Supervisor Vianey Lopez Biography

Vianey LopezSupervisor Lopez was elected to a four-year term on the Ventura County Board of Supervisors in 2024 and sworn into office January 2025. Lopez was first sworn in as the Ventura County Fifth District Supervisor in September of 2022, following her appointment by Governor Gavin Newsom.   

Supervisor Lopez brings over a dozen years of experience as an elected official to the County. Her service to our community as an elected official began in 2012, when a strong desire to serve her community compelled her to run for – and earn – a seat on the Hueneme Elementary School District Board. In 2018, Lopez was elected to the Oxnard City Council to represent District 6. She was re-elected to a four-year term in 2020, which she served until her appointment to the Board of Supervisors.   

While serving as an elected official, Supervisor Lopez built an extensive public service career working in the offices of local federal and state representatives. From 2016 to 2022, Lopez served as the Director of California State Senator Monique Limón’s district office (which included Limón’s time as an Assemblymember). Before joining the state office, she served as District Scheduler and District Director for former Congresswoman Lois Capps in Santa Barbara for nearly five years. Supervisor Lopez also garnered experience early in her career through her work for the Oxnard Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Oxnard Downtown Management District . 

Supervisor Lopez actively participates in LULAC Council #3147, is an alum and former board member of Future Leaders of America, and previously held the Vice President position on the Ventura Women’s Political Council. 

Supervisor Lopez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University and a Master’s in Public Policy from Pepperdine University.   

Supervisor Lopez was born in Mexico and came to the United States with her family at the age of four; they made their home in Oxnard where Supervisor Lopez attended local public schools.
